Role: Illustrator and Designer
Description: I created a series of illustrations for the UBC Economics Department’s Iona Building, intended for use as stock images for banners, posters, and digital signage. These illustrations aimed to represent the building across the four seasons while maintaining a cohesive visual identity that would not distract from accompanying text content.
Key Responsibilities and Achievements:
Design Concept: Developed illustrations based on the theme of the four seasons, ensuring each design highlighted the beautiful west coast experience of UBC students. This included winter, spring, and autumn themes, each with distinct visual elements.
Audience Consideration: Considered the primary audience for these graphics, including prospective students, visitors, and business and teaching personnel. Ensured the illustrations conveyed key characteristics of the UBC experience.
Creative Execution: Utilized lighter colors to avoid distracting from text content and incorporated seasonal elements to create visually engaging and relevant imagery. For example, the winter illustration featured snowflakes, a white sun, and a lighter blue sky, while the spring illustration included mountains, clouds, and warmer colors.
Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in digital illustration tools and techniques to create high-quality, versatile images suitable for various applications.
Collaboration and Feedback: Worked closely with the Economics Department to align the illustrations with their branding and functional requirements. Incorporated feedback to refine and enhance the final designs.
Key Achievements:
Successfully delivered a set of versatile illustrations that effectively represented the Iona Building across different seasons, receiving positive feedback from the Economics Department.
Demonstrated strong creative and technical skills, ensuring the illustrations met the department’s needs for various marketing and informational materials.
